If you are tired of white walls and want to add some punch to your home consider adding an accent colour to your walls. It's a great way to add a dramatic effect with very little cost.
CONSIDER YOUR FURNITURE
The most effective way is to have high contrast between the furniture and other decorative items within the room.
START IN STAGES
Minimise your commitment or fear of making mistakes by starting with one feature wall. Ideally, this wall is the one that has a focal point like a fire place. If you are happy with it then you can progress to painting the whole room. Avoid painting the whole house a dark colour unless you like living in a batcave.
MORE THAN ONE COAT
A dark wall colour will need about two to three coats to have consistent coverage. Please be aware that this applies to reversing back to a light colour as well.
